Courses
Applied Theology
All our courses are courses in Applied Theology: the goal is to equip students to be effective servants for Christ wherever he has called them. For some this includes becoming more deeply involved in areas such as leadership and church planting in Ireland. For others, it means developing in ministry within their home church. For others it may mean taking up the challenge of mission in the world of work, or even becoming involved in mission overseas.
Valuing Diversity
Students come in all shapes and sizes (literally and metaphorically!) each with their own God-given gifts, experience and training needs. We value this diversity and do not want to try to squeeze our students all into one mould. As a result we have developed a number of both validated and non-validated courses ranging from Certificate, Diploma to BA(Hons) Degree in Applied Theology as well as a MA in Applied Theology.
Head, Heart and Hands
IBI is committed to an approach to study that develops the whole person: head (mind), heart attitudes) and hands (skills). We don't believe that readiness for Christian ministry can be assessed only by academic ability. This means that our courses place emphasis on Christian character as well as a student's capacity to study and their ability to do a job.
Flexibility
The structure of our courses and teaching times has been designed to allow maximum flexibility between study / teaching time and the rest of life. The benefits of this approach are threefold:
it gives you flexibility to organize your life and other major commitments like family, work, and church
it allows you to stay involved in ministry wherever God has called you
it makes our courses more accessible, especially if you are from outside Dublin
