4013M Ministry and Personal Development 1

This 26-week module aims to provide students with an enhanced understanding of Christian ministry and personal development. The module explores key principles and practices by use of a range of resources, tools and skills that contribute to spiritual, social, emotional, physical and mental growth.

Students will engage with various topics, including leading small groups, effective time management, exploring spiritual gifts and reflective practice. Reflective practice is a fundamental element of many professional spheres of work. For students of theology, reflective practice is a critical skill to develop, offering numerous benefits, including better self-awareness, improved critical thinking and enhanced problem-solving and decision-making.

Through a combination of theoretical study, practical exercises, and reflective assignments, students will develop and apply the integration of IBI’s teaching and learning strategy (the holistic integration of head, heart and hands) in their specific ministry contexts and in their own personal development.

This module aims to enable students to:

  • develop skills of reflection and reflective practice to enhance ministry and personal development;

  • encourage reflection on personal and spiritual growth;

  • provide students with resources to explore their spiritual gifts;

  • develop responsible attitudes to study and personal life;

  • develop skills to enable students to integrate IBI learning into personal life and ministry;

  • consider resources that will be of value for the rest of the programme and for future ministry.
